Summer In Austria (Österreich)
4 Aug 2016
I just spent the first 3 weeks of my 6 week summer holiday in Austria. Those of you who follow my Instagram will have already seen some of my pictures and how amazing it was, but trust me, pictures will never do it justice. From swimming across lakes, sun-baking on boats to eating ice cream, and playing board-games is just some of the fun things we got up to. I couldn't have asked for a better time and now being back in Germany I miss it a lot:( but it is great to see friends again! For the first week we were tanning and relaxing and breathing in the fresh Austrian air in the not so early morning:) We took my host family's new boat for a test run and it ran so smoothly, we also attempted (on the second run) to settle down in the boat, despite the wind, and take a bite of some snacks and long story short almost everybody got out of the boat drenched in water with bits of muesli crumbles everywhere but it was great and we laughed about it all later. A few days later we went bike riding and the scenery was so surreal it really was incredible, and the colour of the water that we rode next to was so unimaginably aqua, after we rode along the water edge and into the forest we came along these enormous farms that looked so impossibly big almost like something out of a cartoon. The next day was even in more unbelievable as we rode in to Italy! My host cousin and her Mum eventually arrived also which was great, so we did even more tanning and boat riding|diving and it was nice to have another girl in the mix of all my host brothers. We did a bit of shopping and I bought a Dirndl (Typical German|Austrian dress) which is for Oktoberfest that my host cousin and I are going to with another friend. We also went back to Italy again; to Venice (Venedig auf Deutsch). It was only my second in time in Venice so it was really nice to see some more of the city, get lost and shop in little boutiques I had never heard of. But we didn't relax the entire holiday; my host family bought the block of land next to their house in Austria so everyone pitched into to help clean up some of the scrub and bushes everywhere which wasn't a small job but I'm excited to see what my host family will do with it! All in all I had a great 3 weeks and now I'm back in Germany and seeing friends again which is also nice. Now, till Christmas and we can go back to Austria skiing again!!!
