53 Days

24 Nov 2015

This past weekend flew so quickly, I attended my last Rotary youth exchange weekend in Canberra and I thought I would give an update on what is happening at the moment. I got my Rotary Blazer which was AMAZING and made this whole thing an inch more realistic. Us 'outbounders' as we are called are the ones that are in the Green Blazer in the picture below to represent Australia. In the photo below are also 'inbounders' and some other Rotarians and past exchange students! Basically for anyone who doesn't know we cover these Blazers in pins and by the time we come back from exchange they are heavy, metal covered pieces of clothing with homemade memories and tourist store bought reminiscences. We talked about all the usual how to handle exchange type of things on the weekend and presented a practice of the speech, we will present to our host rotary clubs in our host countries, about ourselves and Australia. All in all each day makes a year away from home closer and it is almost scary, but excitement rages over so far. Now with 53 days to go, speaking German with my host family, thinking about packing and travel books, exchange is an adventure already and I haven't even started.
